Kent snooker star Barry Hawkins has been dumped out of the China Open at the second-round stage by Stephen Maguire.

The 28-year-old, from Dartford, suffered a 5-2 defeat after failing to replicate the form which saw him secure a 5-1 win over seven-times world champion Stephen Hendry in the first round.

Hawkins will return to action in the World Championships at the Crucible in Sheffield next month.

He will play Ali Carter and will be hoping to secure his first ever World Championship win.
