Gillingham players will be in over the weekend so manager Neil Harris can assess who is fit enough to play on Monday.
A draw at Cheltenham Town on Friday is quickly followed by the visit of Fleetwood Town to Priestfield.
The Gills were again without their captain Stuart O’Keefe for their Good Friday fixture at Cheltenham and Harris is expecting another busy few days for his medical team as they prepare for a huge game.
Fleetwood are just below the Gills in the League 1 table, a point worse off than Harris’ men.
The Gills boss said: “The medical department will be busy, we are in all weekend.
“When you get a quick turnaround like this you need eyes on players and we need a head count in the morning (on Saturday).
“Straight away there will be one player, if not two, who won’t be with us on Monday.
“I won’t go into detail but my thoughts are with Josh Chambers and his family, over the last 48 hours, and we will welcome him back. We need everybody at the moment and having Josh back in will be a positive. We will see how we look by Sunday before I name my team, to prepare for Monday’s game.
“We have got what we have got, we will see who gets through the next 48 hours and whether we get anyone back, whether there is a chance for Stuey to be fit we don’t know, we will see what comes.
“What we will do is make sure the boys will be ready mentally and physically.”
O’Keefe was with the squad at Cheltenham despite his knee injury ruling him out.
Harris said: “He has not trained but he wants to travel and be around the group, the boys need him.
“We have some senior players but we have a lot of young players with a lack of experience and sometimes you need warriors and leaders around you.
“We don’t have big staff, so to have Stuey around the boys, he is someone I can speak with and he can deliver messages to players
“Having him around, on the bus and travelling and in the hotel (before Cheltenham) was first class.”
Daniel Phillips and David Tutonda both came off the bench on Friday after injuries. Mustapha Carayol still remains sidelined.
