LUCKLESS Gillingham have been handed a trip to Division 1 promotion favourites Wolves in the AXA sponsored FA Cup, third round, draw. "It could have been better, but it could have worse," said player-manager Andy Hessenthaler who watched the club come out of the hat last, dashing dreams of drawing a Premier League club.
"It would have been nice to have been given a home draw but we've got to get on with it," Hessenthaler added. "Wolves' home form is not as good compared with what they've been producing away from Molineux. So I think there's a chance we can bring them back to Priestfield for a replay." The tie will be played on Saturday, January 5.
Meanwhile, Gillingham have agreed to let defender Ben White join Conference club Dover on a temporary transfer. White made his debut in Saturday's 1-0 home defeat by Southport. To help the cash-strapped Conference club, Gillingham are helping pay his wages along with a Dover businessman.
Last month, the Gills Independent Supporters' Club handed over a cheque for £233 to Dover.
