Hess: I don't want chairman to quit

GILLINGHAM'S player-manager Andy Hessenthaler accompanies club chairman Paul Scally to Dubai for a holiday later this week hoping to persuade him to stay on after threatening to quit over his feud with the Independent Supporters' Club.

Hessenthaler said: "If the chairman stepped down or sold up, I would be worried for this club. I'm hoping he will change his mind and I'm going to try and convince him.

"I've got a good relationship with him and fully support the decisions he's made. He might leave, that's up to him.

"He's got a strong opinion and the row goes back a long way, but I, for one am hoping he will stay."
