Hess: I'd be happy with a draw

GILLINGHAM will again be without centre-back Adrian Pennock for tonight's league match at Grimsby. Pennock has still not recovered from the hamstring strain that kept him out of the games against Wolves and Rotherham.

Player-manager Andy Hessenthaler looks likely to name the same side that beat Rotherham 2-1 on Saturday in a 4-4-2 formation.

Hessenther today warned his players that Grimsby will be no pushovers as the Kent club aims to complete the manager's four point target from two games at Blundell Park.

The Gills boss set the target before Saturday's 2-1 home win over Rotherham which ended a sequence of four straight league defeats.

Grimsby, written off as relegation certainties at the start of the season, have emerged as the Nationwide League, Division 1 surprise package and at one stage lead the section.

Hessenthaler says a point this evening will satisfy him. "They are a good side and they've proved it this year," he said. "They've had a fantastic start and have surprised quite a few people. Lennie Lawrence is doing a good job there and any side that underestimates Grimsby will do so at their peril."
