Hess: Jason could be No 1 for Wales

JASON BROWN: Super saves at Portman Road on Saturday

GILLINGHAM goalkeeper Jason Brown is being urged by his manager Andy Hessenthaler to fulfil his potential and become first choice for Wales.

Brown, capped twice by his country at Under-21 level, hit peak form with a series of breathtaking saves in Gillingham's 1-0 win on Saturday at Ipswich where his performance won rave reviews from both sides.

With present Wales first choice Paul Jones under pressure following a series of high-profile gaffes, Brown may get his chance sooner than he expects.

Hessenthaler said: “I believe that Jason can knock on the Wales first team door in the next few years and establish himself as No 1.

“People might look at him and think maybe his size is against him but he's been outstanding for us this season. Wales have got some good goalkeepers but if he keeps doing what he's doing and playing the way he has been, who knows.”
