FORTUNES at Gillingham are changing “slowly but surely” says player-manager Andy Hessenthaler.
But, despite his side stopping the rot by picking up four points against Wolves and Watford in the past week to end a seven-game losing run, Hessenthaler is refusing to get carried away.
He said: “The most pleasing thing is we’ve kept two clean sheets and when you do that, you always have the chance to get something from a game.
“There’s a long way to go but maybe that’s our bad spell over. Perhaps it’s time for other teams to have problems and we can concentrate on creeping out of the bottom three to mid-table."
Gills now they are in for a tough test on Saturday's away to Sheffield United. Hessenthaler said: "We made it easy for Sheffield United last time when we lost 3-1 but that won’t happen on Saturday. Paul Shaw was allowed far too much freedom in front of goal. We will not allow that to happen this time.”
