FORMER Gillingham star Andy Hessenthaler has signed a short-term deal with League 2 side Barnet.

Hessenthaler announced his decision to leave Priestfield after 10 years following the 3-0 win over Swindon Town, but he is quickly back in the game and will play for the north London club for the rest of the season.

The 40-year-old trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Thursday.

Barnet boss Paul Fairclough is hoping his experience will help the development of the club's younger players.
