GILLINGHAM may be sitting on top of the Nationwide Division 1 table but manager Andy Hessenthaler is urging his men not to get carried away.
Gills were just too good for Millwall and, after maintaining their 100 per cent record, will go into their top-of-the table clash at Norwich on Saturday brimming with confidence.
Hessenthaler said: “The way we play is as a team. We defend as a team and work for each other and if you carry on doing that and keep consistency in our performances then we won’t be too far away.
“But as I've said before, it’s a long hard season and you need a little bit of luck but everybody’s working their socks off and it's working."
Guy Ipoua, who netted the 60th minute winner against Millwall, paid tribute to his strike partner Mamady Sidebe.
He said: “It's always nice to score goals but to be honest my goal was all down to Mama because he played hard the whole game and flicked the ball on very well. That’s the job the manager has asked him to do and he’s done it very well."
Gillingham's Simon Osborn aggravated an Achilles injury in the match. He was grimacing with pain when he was replaced by Kevin James five minutes from time and could be a doubt for the Norwich fixture.
