THE Football Association has written to Andy Hessenthaler asking for his views after allegations he gestured to Norwich fans after last week’s 1-0 win at Priestfield.
The Gills player-manager was called to referee Clive Penton’s room and told a police officer and a steward had reported him and that a report would be sent to the FA.
Hessenthaler described the allegations as complete nonsense and said: “I will fight this all the way.
“All I did was raise my clenched fist in the direction of our fans at the Town End to show how delighted I was with a hard-earned win.
“It certainly wasn't a rude gesture and it certainly wasn’t aimed at the Norwich supporters.
“No way did I intend to upset the Norwich fans. They weren't my concern.”
An FA spokesman said: “We have written to Andy Hessenthaler asking for his observations and he has until March 13 to reply."
