GILLINGHAM players will have to be on their game after manager Andy Hessenthaler warned he may be forced to trim his squad.
After signing defenders John Hills and Ian Cox, Hessenthaler has revealed that all players will need to prove their worth.
He said: “We may have to trim our squad during the start of the season. I don't know. Money is very tight at the moment."
He added: “I am pleased with the squad. We have brought in two very good players in Ian Cox and John Hills.
“There’s good competition all over the pitch. But we need to keep players on their toes and they need to keep performing.”
