JOHN HILLS will become Gillingham's second summer signing when he joins the club this week.

Hills, released by Blackpool, will follow Ian Cox to Priestfield and will fill the left-back berth vacated by Roland Edge who failed to negotiate a new contract.

The former Everton and Swansea man made a total of 203 appearances for Blackpool, scoring 20 goals, and is expected to sign when he returns from holiday.

Simon Osborn has yet to sign a new contract but boss Andy Hessenthaler is hoping to tie up a deal with the midfielder soon.
