WELLING striker Danny Kedwell faces a race against time to be fit for the FA Trophy second round replay against Tamworth on Tuesday.

Kedwell missed last Saturday's win at Sutton with an ankle injury picked up during last week's 1-1 draw at Tamworth.

"I don't know if he will be ready," said manager Adrian Pennock. "We'll give Danny until the last possible moment to try to make the game because he is a big player for us."

Pennock insisted that his team were not favourites for the game which will be played at Gravesend's Stonebridge Road ground as the Wings are still without floodlights after storm damage at the end of last year.

"It's a great leveller for them to go to Gravesend now," said Pennock. "It's a big game but I don't see us as favourites.

"There's no pressure on us in terms of getting league points and everyone is really looking forward to it."

Pennock, who was part of the Fleet squad that avoided relegation in their first season back in the Conference, also called on Gravesend supporters to back the Wings to victory.

"It would be nice to have a big crowd there and I'm sure a few Fleet fans will cheer us on," said Pennock.

"I feel sorry for our supporters but we're doing everything we possibly can to get our lights back as soon as possible and we're grateful to Gravesend for helping us out."

Defender Steve Perkins, who missed the first game, returns to the squad but Tony Battersby is cup-tied.
