Holcombe remain fourth from bottom in EHA Conference East following Sunday's surprise 3-2 home defeat by Bromley and Beckenham.
Team manager Mike Haines said: “We expected to do better because Bromley and Beckenham are one of the teams around us.”
Bromley and Beckenham took the lead from a penalty corner after 10 minutes. Stefan Smith equalised only for the visitors to regain the lead. Dave Mathews notched Holcs’ second from a penalty corner but Bromley and Beckenham won the game with a goal 15 minutes from the end.
Holcombe ladies produced a second-half goal blitz to sink Sudbury 5-2 in the East League Premier on Saturday.
There was little to choose between the two in the first half when Jennie Hoyte gave Holcs the lead. Sudbury quickly equalised and took the lead as the visitors suffered a wobbly period.
They steadied themselves in the closing stages of the half and equalised through Marlisse Joubert. In the second half, Hoyte restored Holcs’ lead and further goals flowed from Christine Cook and Julia Axcell.
