THE Gillingham-based Invicta Dynamos ice hockey squad are looking to complete the second part of the treble when they go hunting for cup glory at the weekend.
Having already secured the English National League South title, Mos are within sight of winning the ENHL League Cup.
A victory in Milton Keynes Thunder on Saturday and a win by more than one goal at Oxford City Stars on Sunday will mean Invicta will bring the cup home to Medway.
Invicta have already beaten Milton Keynes 9-3 at the Ice Bowl but a 4-5 home defeat by Oxford back in November last year may give their rivals a slight edge.
Mos coach Phil Chard said: “We said at the beginning of the season that we wanted to win the league, the cup and the play-offs and we are on course for that at the moment.
“Milton Keynes have had some mixed results this season but are capable of turning over some very good teams. Oxford are a good side but are missing one of their better plays through injury.
“It will be tough but we’re confident of getting the wins we need. These are exciting times for the club.”
Kevin Parrish will miss both games after being ruled out for the rest of the season with a persistent knee injury. He will concentrate on his assistant coaching duties while trying to regain full fitness for the start of next season.
Champions Dynamos completed their English National Hockey League South programme with a 6-2 win over Streatham Redskins.
Dan Fudger found a way past former Mos netminder Adam Noctor to put the visitors into the lead.
The Redskins equalised minutes later but it didn’t stay level for long as Jamie Smith put Invicta back into the lead on 5.14 and two more goals before the end of the first period put the Mos back in the driving seat.
Peter Carey’s short-handed goal and Jon Gray’s power play goal but Invicta 4-1 in front.
Peter Korff got the only goal of the second period but the sides traded goals in the final period.
The Redskins scored on 42.47 but Kevin lake completed the scoring with just 36 seconds on the clock.
