WITH a new signing and the vast majority of the former squad agreeing new deals, the Gillingham-based Invicta Dynamos’ roster is shaping up well.
The new face in the Ice Bowl camp is Anthony Lennon, the 19-year-old brother of former Mos player Carl Lennon.
Dynamos coach Kevin Parrish said: “I signed Anthony because he used to be the defensive partner of Adam Copland when they were both at Guildford.
“With Adam leaving us to play in Canada for a year, Anthony makes an ideal replacement. He’s a strong lad who is capable of making big hits, has a brilliant shot and a great attitude.”
Already committed to defending their English National Hockey League (South) title are captain Kevin Lake, netminders Carl Ambler and Ian Rowlands, plus forwards Paul Hume, Gary Dodds, Peter Carey, Grant Baxter and Matt Drake.
Stuart Low has made a return after a year at Romford Raiders and now Parrish has revealed Adam “AJ” Smith, Dan Fudger and Jamie Smith will be returning.
He said: “AJ had an amazing first senior season. He has loads of talent for someone his age and has a great hockey head. He is the most exciting young player we’ve had here for a long time.
“He finished as the fifth-highest points taker for us last season and was rewarded with the coaches’ player-of-the-year award from Phil Chard.”
Parrish has already earmarked his four attacking lines with Hume, Dodds and Carey the free-scoring first line. He continued: “AJ will again tie up with Kev Lake and a new player. I’m currently speaking to two players and one of those will fill that gap. I’m really pleased that popular third line players Fudger and Jamie Smith will be returning for the new season.
“They both had a good season last year, have a great work rate, good speed and regularly pick up points. They will tie up with new signing Low on the third line.
“The fourth line will be the enforcers and these guys are the real crowd favourites with their physical style.
“They are Baxter, nicknamed the Baxinator, Drake nicknamed Rocky and Lennon who no doubt will be given a similar hard-man tag sometime soon. I’m hoping to announce the defensive lines in the next few weeks.”
