Ice men part company with Fudger

THE Gillingham-based Invicta Dynamos ice hockey club has announced that forward Dan Fudger has been released with immediate effect.

A club spokesperson said: “Unfortunately it became apparent that due to differences of opinion in the dressing room it was in the best interest of the team that Dan was released. This is not a decision that was taken lightly and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Squad player Fuger, 24, who has played at Invicta for three seasons, including in the old Mustangs outfit, has scored two goals and got one assist this season, both in games against Slough Harrier Hawks.

On Saturday in another close game in Slough against the Jets in the Premier Cup, the home side won 4-1.

Slough had the best of the early exchanges and it was down to Peter Korff to make an excellent diving interception to deny them a third-minute goal.

New signing Nicky Watt controlled the puck behind the Mos net and passed it out to Terry Miles to put away at 7.53.

Invicta netminder and joint player-of-the-match Ian Rowlands was making some fine saves; the pick was a glove stop from Nick Burton at 14:10.

Matt Drake was called for chopping down Nicky Chinn and sat out for two minutes at 15:00 and Slough made the most of the powerplay, scoring through Warren Rost for 2-0.

The hosts scored their third five minutes into the final period (Burton) and their fourth from Adam Greener was scored on a delayed penalty on Karl Lennon.

At 55:10 the Mos finally managed to get one past Tom Wills, with AJ Smith on target.
