Hayes 1 Welling United 3
WELLING posted their first away win in Nationwide Conference South since late October with an impressive display at Hayes on Saturday.
The Wings took the lead on eight minutes when Jamie Day's right-wing corner was helped on by Chris Moore and Matt Bodkin fired high into the roof of the net.
Hayes were level within three minutes when a rash challenge inside the box by Bodkin conceded a penalty and Kieran Knight sent Jamie Turner the wrong way from the spot.
The Wings were always in control and their dominance was rewarded nine minutes before the break when Day curled a delightful 20-yard free-kick into the top corner.
Any hopes Hayes had of a second half comeback collapsed on 62 minutes when Che Stadhart raced to the by-line and crossed for top scorer Danny Kedwell who turned and fired home at the near post for his 22nd goal of the season.
The Wings could have had more as Stadhart and substitute Steve Perkins both went close and Kedwell blazed wide five minutes into injury time.
The best the home side could offer also came in stoppage time when Moore had to head Knight's effort of the line.
