BROADSTAIRS Cricket Club make their fourth trip to the home of cricket this weekend in a bid to lift the ECB’s National Indoor Cricket title for the second time.
The East Kent Club last won the crown at Lord’s in 1998, since when they have suffered semi-final defeat in 2001 and then the agony of losing the 2002 final to Northamptonshire side Maddisons.
Having won this year’s Thanet Indoor League and beaten Canterbury to become 2007 Kent champions, Broadstairs will now take on Hampshire’s best, Sarisbury Athletic from near Fareham, in this Sunday’s National semi-finals at the MCC Indoor School.
Their experienced skipper Andrew Marshall, who also led Broadstairs to their 1998 success, said: "We’ve contested four of the last nine national finals days and we’ll also have a coach-load of 50-odd people up their supporting us, so we’ll be optimistic about winning it."
