Injured Onuora: I won't be out too long

GILLINGHAM striker Iffy Onuora has spoken about his Worthington Cup nightmare that have seen him crocked in both his side's ties this season. Onuora pulled a thigh muscle in the second round tie against Millwall on September 11 and suffered a gash to his knee in Tuesday's third round clash against Southampton.

But with Gills now out of the competition, the big striker is hoping that will be the end of his injury worries. He said: "It was a nothing challenge really. There was a tangle of legs and it was a stud that caught me. I'm not even sure if it wasn't even my own because there were legs going in everywhere. I felt it straightaway, looked down quickly, saw the gash and thought that's it, game over.

"It's very early to say but it's definitely weeks not months, probably a few weeks, it may be even sooner. It's a superficial wound."

Player-manager Andy Hessenthaler sid: "Iffy's injury brought back memories of mine at Bournemouth. It's in a similar position, but not as bad, and it looks as though he will be out for at least ten days.

It's good news that it's not a break or a twist. He's had to have seven stitches across his knee.

"I will probably be out for at least a week. I went over on my shoulder and Saturday will be too soon for me but hopefully I will be fit for the game against Wimbledon the week after."
