DOWIE: seeking positive approach against the League 1 visitors

Charlton Athletic v Carlisle

CHARLTON boss Iain Dowie insists he will be select his strongest side for tonight's Carling Cup, second round, tie at home to League 1 club Carlisle.

"The game is very important to us and I want us to go into it very positively," said Dowie whose selection options have been severely depleted by injuries to Souleyman Diawara, Djimi Traore, Andy Reid, Gonzalo Sorondo, Cory Gibbs and Jerome Thomas.

The match marks the last of central defender Hermann Hreidarsson's three-match suspension, making him available for Saturday's Barclays Premier League match at Aston Villa.
