KENT boxer Takaloo is desperate for a quick return to the ring after a shoulder injury forced the postponement of his latest fight.

The 28-year-old from Margate was due to fight Ghanaian Ossie Duran at York in Hall in Bethnal Green this Thursday for the WBU light-middleweight title but had to pull out after being hurt in a sparring session.

Takaloo said: “I was doing some brilliant work with light-heavyweight Andrew Lowe and took a punch on my arm.

"I had a massage, manipulation and ultrasound, and didn’t think too much about it. The following day though I had a nagging pain, similar to toothache.”

The decision to call the Duran fight off was made by his consultant. “I saw a specialist at the QEQM in Margate and he diagnosed it as an inflamed shoulder socket.

“It happened 10 days before the fight, but after more treatment it’s feeling as good as new.”

Takaloo was due to travel to east London on Thursday to support top-of-the-bill star Danny Williams, and also meet promoter Frank Warren to discuss plans for his next fight.

He said: “I’ll get this month out of the way and will be hoping to box again in June. I want to meet former British and European champion Wayne Alexander, but he doesn’t want to fight me.

“I’m 28 and he’s 30. I think it’s time we got in the ring and did the business.”

The fight against Duran will almost certainly be re-arranged.
