ANDREW HALL has left for international duty with Kent’s good wishes after once again proving to be a magnificent and inspirational signing.
His never-say-die approach, his plucky batting and aggressive brand of pace bowling have made Hall the fulcrum of the county’s four-day and limited overs sides and a role model to younger members of the team.
Since his arrival almost three weeks into the season Kent remained unbeaten from five championship starts and lost only four of their 14 limited overs games.
In his five championship innings he scored 237 runs at an average of 79 to head the Kent rankings, whilst his 14-wicket return with the ball at a cost of 23.8 per wicket means he also leaves while on top of the club’s bowling averages.
The South African signed off with some magnificent displays, none more so than where he bagged three Sussex wickets for three runs inside five balls to turn the Twenty20 Cup tie Spitfires’ way.
He said: "It was one of those games when you were never quite sure which way it might go, but thankfully our bowlers all fired toward the end there. It showed again how dramatic Twenty20 can be.
"Min came up to me and said he had to take a punt and bring me back early to break the partnership.
"Had we not done that then Sussex would have won quite easily, but it was nice that things went my way on this occasion."
