Gillingham v Brentford

THE visit of Brentford to Priestfield on Satuday sees Ronnie Jepson come up against Martin Allen as a manager for the first time.

The Gillingham boss did his coaching badges alongside Allen and is well aware of the danger that Brentford pose.

And Jepson insists that there is much more to Allen than meets the eye.

"Martin Allen is perceived as someone who jumps up and down on the touchline. But I did my coaching badges with Martin and he is a very intellectual guy.

"He doesn’t get the credit he deserves at times because he is a good coach. He’s done well at Brentford and it’s going to be a difficult task for us."

The Bees, who have slipped out of the automatic promotion places following an FA Cup run that took them to the fifth round stage, base their game plan on similar work ethics to the Gills.

Jepson added: "His team work their socks off for him and he is gaining the rewards from that now. With their work ethic and desire they will be a difficult team to play against.

"They are all difficult games in this league, whether you’re playing a team at the top, middle or bottom of the table."

Tickets are still on sale for the game. Contact 01634-300000 for full details.
