Jepson unconcerned over lack of new faces

JEPSON: "...any new additions might have rocked the boat"

GILLINGHAM'S assistant manager Ronnie Jepson insists there is no need to worry despite the club failing to bring in any fresh faces.

Last Thursday’s transfer deadline passed without any movement in or out of Priestfield, despite several enquiries. Jepson, though, believes that with the current crop enjoying a purple patch, any new additions might have rocked the boat.

He said: “We’ll be okay. If the lads keep going as they have been doing then we wouldn’t really want to change anything. Since we’ve been here the lads have been terrific.”

The club missed out on at least two loan signings after targeting former Gillingham player Paul Shaw and Watford’s Bruce Dyer.

A goalless draw at Ipswich in their last match finally took the Gills out of the Championship’s bottom three, but Jepson realises there’s plenty more work to do.

“It’s a boost for the lads,” he said. “But we’re not out of the woods yet.”
