GILLINGHAM striker Tommy Johnson is staying put for the time being at Priestfield after a proposed move back to his first club Notts County collapsed on Monday night.
Gary Mills, Notts County's manager, confirmed that though the deal was off he was leaving the door open for resurrecting it at a later date.
He said: "It's not going to happen because Tommy could not sort out things financially at the Gillingham end. But he's still a player we would like to bring here."
Johnson, 33 last month, has another 14 months of his Gillingham contract after joining the club on a free transfer from Kilmarnock in August, 2002. He is presently with the rest of the Gillingham squad on a four-day bonding session in Lanzarote.
