Striker Danny Kedwell believes that the football will keep on improving under new boss Peter Taylor.

The Gills showed glimpses of the way Taylor wants the Gills to play at Priestfield on Saturday.

“The football we did play, at times, was very good,” said Kedwell on Gills' official website.

“The gaffer has only had a few days with us and the more he has with us the more we will see better football out there like it was (against Preston) in spells.

“It will take time. It has been three days (working with the new manager) and in spells we have shown what he has done in that time with the passing and movement that we had.”

Kedwell’s 76 minute effort led to a concerted effort from the Gills as they looked for a way back into the match.

“Once our first goal went in we had a bit of confidence that we could go and nick something,” said the 30-year-old, who now has five goals to his name.

“It was a shame we didn’t get our earlier goal as that would have lifted the crowd and that would have lifted us a bit. It was a bit too late.

“I think they got a bit lucky with their first goal, from a deflection, and the second where Steven Gregory’s tackle fell to them and that’s the kind of luck we need, which we haven’t had this season.

“It will come and we just need to keep working hard on the training pitch and playing our football.”

The Gills are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Notts County.

Kedwell said: “It’s better for us to have that game coming around quickly rather than us worrying about this defeat all week.

“We have strong characters who will push us through and hopefully we will get a result on Tuesday.”
