Weston-super-Mare 1 Welling 2
DANNY Kedwell kept his nerve to score an injury-time winner from the penalty spot for Welling on Saturday.
The striker took his tally for the season to 24 goals when he sent keeper Ryan Northmore the wrong way from the spot in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Welling had to do it the hard way as they trailed at the break following a poor first half.
Che Stadhart should have given them a 15th-minute lead but he blazed over from close-range when it seemed easier to score.
Weston took the lead on 35 minutes when another needless free-kick conceded on the edge of the Welling penalty area was finally converted by Andy Gurney.
Tony Battersby saw his close-range header cleared off the line on 54 minutes and Northmore tipped Kedwell's header over as the Wings piled on the pressure.
They equalised on 66 minutes when Jamie Turner's long clearance found Battersby in space and he confidently slotted home from inside the penalty area.
Northmore produced a fine one-handed save to deny substitute Ellis Green and a flying stop to keep out Kedwell's drive.
It looked as though Welling's hopes of victory had gone when Green just failed to connect with Leon Solomon's cross.
But, in the third minute of time added on, Kedwell beat the offside trap before being hacked down by Lee Jarman.
The towering Weston centre-back was shown the red card and, after lengthy protests from the home side, Kedwell kept his cool to tuck away the penalty and delight the visiting supporters.
