Gillingham striker Danny Kedwell has two objectives this weekend.

The former AFC Wimbledon skipper would love nothing more than to down MK Dons at Priestfield on Saturday, which would also give Gills their first home win of the season.

“I have wanted to play against this team for a long time,” said the 30-year-old. "I never got to face them when I was captain at Wimbledon and having played for that team, I know what it means. It would be nice to get a goal for this club and also for Wimbledon.

“Hopefully, I can score here against them and for it be the winner which would secure our first home win of the season. They are two things I have wanted to do for a long time.”

Kedwell may only have two goals this season but those on the inside have seen that he’s not just been doing the work up front.

He’s also been used as a makeshift midfielder to plug the gaps and stop teams playing through the Gills. He can also, on numerous occasions, be found winning headers in his own box.

He understands the reasoning and is happy to play for the team rather than himself.

He said: “This year there are better ball players and a lot of teams play one in front of the back four. I have to play up front and also drop back in to help the team and stop that extra man from working so I am really doing two jobs."
