Gillingham have completed the signing of former Stevenage keeper Alan Julian on a two-year deal.

Julian held talks with his former manager Mark Stimson last week and the 25-year-old will now compete with Gillingham player of the year Simon Royce for the goalkeeping jersey.

Stimson said: “He’s been down here, seen the ground and liked what he's seen. He has been impressed and he wants to come in and compete.”

Julian joined Stevenage in February 2005 after starting out as a trainee at Brentford. He went onto play more than 150 games for Stevenage but his contract expired this summer and the Blue Square Premier side opted to release him.
