Simon Royce will see a specialist on Monday to assess an ankle injury which has plagued him since the end of last season.

The Gillingham keeper insists the injury won’t stop him playing but wants to get to the bottom of the problem.

He said: “I’m having to miss the odd days’ training but at this stage in my career it’s not a bad thing and its more about maintenance than anything.

“It’s not going to keep me out of any games. I’ll just grind through it and take some tablets and get on with it.”
