Kent game called off

KENT'S friendly with Oxford University Centre of Cricketing Excellence has been abandoned as a draw after just two overs' action over the entire three days.

No play was possible on Thursday or Friday as rain kept the players off the field at The Parks.

On Wednesday afternnon Kent had reached nine for one, Michael Carberry having hit all the runs before the weather closed in again.

The game's only action worthy of note was an unfortunate golden duck on first-class debut for Whitstable Cricket Club's rising star Joe Denly.

Kent will hope for better luck with the weather on Sunday, when they are due to take on Lancashire at Old Traford in their second totesport League clash of the summer.
