Zak Crawley and Joe Denly are both hoping to have done enough as England warmed up for their first Test with an intra-squad match.
The players were in opposing teams at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, captained by Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes.
England are preparing to play West Indies in a three-Test series, played in bio-secure environments, that will start on Wednesday, July 8.
Crawley top scored for Team Stokes on day two of England’s three-day warm-up match while Denly had earlier made 48 off 102 balls.
Twenty-two year-old Crawley scored 43 off 77 balls before being caught behind.
Fellow Kent hopeful Denly had earlier batted steadily at no.3 for Team Buttler (287/5 dec) but was trapped lbw to James Anderson.
Denly shared a 98-run stand with James Bracey on the opening day and Gloucestershire’s uncapped left-hander was the star batsman, hitting 85.
Fellow England newcomer, Essex’s Dan Lawrence, also impressed with his knock of 58 and could well be competing for the no.4 berth in the England team with Denly.
Play continues on Friday with both men hoping to impress.
