KENT went into tea at The Nevill in complete command having reduced Lancashire to 175 for five in their second innings.

Following on 308 behind, Lancashire lost five more wickets in the mid-session to slide further toward their first defeat of the season in any form of cricket.

Min Patel, bowling off three paces despite a hamstring strain, was the Kent hero taking the wickets of Mark Chilton (25) and Stuart Law (48) to catches at slip.

Fellow spinner Andrew Symonds also bagged two and Alamgir Sheriyar got the ball rolling by trapping Iain Sutcliffe leg before.

The afternoon session also included a controversial re-call for Mal Loye who, having been given out caught behind of Symonds, was bravely re-called by umpire Graham Burgess.

The official later revealed that, after second thoughts, he believed the ball had brushed the pad and not bat.
