MOHAMMAD SAMI claimed his first championship wicket of the summer to give Kent a better start to the second day of their clash with Northamptonshire at Wantage Road.
Responding to Kent's first day total of 254, Northamptonshire reached 131 for two when rain stopped play after 46 overs.
Sami struck in his second over of the day from the Pavilion End to remove South African batsman Martin Van Jaarsveld for 46. Getting some additional lift at extreme pace, Sami brushed one off the right-hander's gloves to give David Fulton at first slip a comfortable catch.
At the other end Tim Roberts moved smoothly on to 69 and was joined by Usman Afzaal, who reached three before the rain arrived.
The umpires hope to inspect at 1.30pm and, with no further rain, re-start
the match at 1.40pm.
