TEAM Great Britain stormed to victory in the A1 Grand Prix sprint race in the final meeting of the series at Brands Hatch on Sunday.
Robbie Kerr became the first driver to win an A1GP race on home soil by taking the chequered flag in the 15-lap race.
That earned him pole position for the 50-lap feature race but champion Niko Hulkenberg stopped him doing the double by pipping him to victory.
Kerr’s sprint win was the third victory for Britain in the past three events but they just missed out on claiming second place in the team competition, finishing a point behind New Zealand.
Italy took third in the feature race through Enrico Toccacelo, just edging out India’s Narain Karthikeyan.
The start of the race was marred by an accident between Australia’s Ian Dyk and South Africa’s Adrian Zaugg, but both escaped without injury.
