KENT fast bowler Amjad Khan has targeted an England call up once he fully recovers from nearly a year on the sidelines.
The 27-year-old paceman damaged knee ligaments and cartilage in February and has only recently made a return to bowling after missing the entire 2007 season.
Before his injury Khan had impressed selectors enough to be called into England A squads and was named in the provisonal squad for the World Cup.
He told the club's website: “Of course I would love to play for England. For me it is about getting back to where I was when I was at my best.”
Khan is aiming to feature in an England Lions game against South Africa in May.
He said: “That is definitely something to look forward to.
"Apart from being ready for the start of the season with Kent, which has always been my goal, it would be great to give something back to the ECB after what they have done for me.”
He added: “The idea is to look ahead and get fit for the next domestic season.
"I should really be ready by February and raring to go for Kent in April. That’s the aim anyway.”
Khan is currently accompanying the England Performance Programme squad - which includes Kent colleagues Joe Denly and James Tredwell - on their tour of India.
Denly hit 55 and Tredwell 15 in the EPP’s first innings total of 498-7 declared in their latest tour game against a representative XI in Chennai.
