Charlton 1 Norwich 1
At 16 years, 311 days, Jonjo Shelvey created Charlton history as the club's youngest scorer with his first senior goal from a stunning strike that gave them a 20th minute lead against Norwich in Saturday's FA Cup, third round tie at The Valley.
But the youngster was unable to give new Charton boss Phil Parkinson the first win he so desperately craves as Norwich hit back to equalise with a 71st minute strike from substitute Arturo Lupoli which forced a replay on January 13 at Carrow Road.
Shelvey, fresh from scoring a hat-trick for the reserves, took his chance superbly, volleying in Hameur Bouzza's cross.
For Parkinson there were mixed emotions at the final whistle. Delight for Shelvey, frustration that once again his butter-fingered side had let slip a lead.
"I think Jonjo showed his class with his awareness and his ability on the ball, not to mention his clinical finish," said Parkinson.
"But we have to remember that he's only 16 and must be handled with care.
"I would rather take the positives out of the game, such as Jonjo's performance, though it's frustrating that we've thrown away another lead when we had plenty of chances to increase it."
Norwich goalkeeper David Marshall produced an excellent save to deny Deon Burton while Shelvey was inches away from connecting from a Lloyd Sam cross in the first half.
Norwich punished Charlton's failure in front of goal when Lupoli tucked in fellow substitute Wes Hoolihan's 71st minute pass.
The draw stretched Charlton's depressing winless sequence to 17 games in all competitions.
