DEAN KIELY’S heroics earned Charlton a point in their bid for a European place, but it could have easily been all three at the Riverside Stadium on Sunday.

The Addicks led twice, thanks mainly to several stunning saves by Kiely, only to throw away all three points in a roller-coaster finish.

Matt Holland’s deflected first-half goal was cancelled out by a hotly-disputed Chris Riggott effort with 16 minutes left.

Shaun Bartlett, who has scored in four successive home games, gave the small away support something to cheer by regaining Charlton’s lead against the run of play on 80 minutes, but substitute Danny Graham nodded home a late equaliser six minutes later to peg back the visitors.

It was harsh on Kiely, who produced a sterling one-man show between the sticks to continually keep out the home side, including a point-blank save from his own defender, Hermann Hreidarsson.

Manager Alan Curbishley said: "The game turned in the second half. We came in at half-time deservedly in front but in the second half they got after us and put us under pressure. Dean Kiely made some great saves.

"I was disappointed with our passing in the second half but it's great to come here and get a point."
