Margate v Sutton United

MARGATE manager Chris Kinnear faces an anxious wait before being able to name his side to face Sutton United in the Nationwide Conference South at Homelands on Saturday.

Greg Oates, Che Stadhart, Peter Benevides and Alexis Charalambous will all have fitness tests ahead of the game, leaving Gate short of numbers.

Kinnear said: "Peter should be all right. He got a whack on the achilles against Maidenhead the other night, but I hope he will be available. Greg and Che are both doubts, and Alexis didn't train on Wednesday night with a badly bruised foot."

Kinnear has refused to rule out reaching the play-offs this season. Only recently, Gate were within touching distance of the relegation zone, but four wins in their last five games have proved a timely return to form, and a win on Saturday could propel them into the top 10.

Kinnear said: "I still think we have got a chance of making the play-offs because the league is so tight it's ridiculous."

Meanwhile, he welcomed the news concerning the club's plans to return to Hartsdown Park, and said: "If you look at this season, our good run has come when the club has received good news, while the bad run has co-incided with us getting bad news. The news this week is definitely good"

Margate also hope the transfer embargo imposed by the Football Conference will be lifted, perhaps as early as next week.
