DEAN LACY, of Cambridge Harriers, added the Kent senior men’s cross country league individual trophy to his 1500m and 5000m championship titles from 2007 with a faultless display at Nursted Court, Meopham.

Lacy was almost a minute clear of Aboura Mahieddine, who represented Thanet Road Runners for the first time this winter and who has won the Canterbury Half Marathon for the past two years.

Clare Elms, of Beckenham Road Runners, warmed up for her assault on the national W40 cross country title at Banbury next month with an impressive victory in the final Kent Women’s league race.

It was a two horse race at the equestrian trials course, which is complete with a water jump feature, as Claire Gibson of Cambridge Harriers matched Elms for pace throughout finishing five seconds adrift at the line.
