Langley Park eye more rugby success

A KENT secondary school are closing in on a second major rugby trophy in three years.

Langley Park School, Beckenham, won the prestigious Daily Mail Under-15 Vase at Twickenham in 2006.

And they are now only two wins away from a repeat performance after cruising through their quarter-final.

Langley could well have their work cut out, however, as they meet renowned rugby school Woodlands, near Coventry, in the last four.

“That’s the luck of the draw,” said David Johnson, coach of the under-15s.

“Our team have been training hard and they are very focused. There is a ban throughout the team on using the word ‘Twickenham’.

“As far as we know every one has stuck to it. It was a great day out for the school in 2006 but we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves before what we know will be a tough semi-final against Woodlands.”
