Last-gasp goal lands Margate three points

Hereford 2Margate 3

JEAN-MICHEL SIGERE hit a last-gasp winner as Margate secured three points in the Nationwide Conference at Edgar Street.

The match was well into injury time when Sigere latched on to Leon Braithwaite's through-ball to round home keeper Matt Baker for his second goal of the afternooon.

His first, on 11 minutes, came from close range after Hereford had failed to deal with Paul Lamb's corner, and just eight minutes later Phil Collins made it 2-0 with a speculative long-range effort.

Hereford pulled a goal back through Paul Parry five minutes before the break and substitute Steve Guinan then netted an 80th minute equaliser, only for Sigere to have the final say.

* PIECES of turf, seats and other memorabilia from Hartsdown Park are being sold to Margate football fans as the stadium is pulled down for redevelopment.

David Canham, executive operations manager, said they wanted to allow fans to acquire a piece of the club’s history.

The items will be available for collection on Sunday, April 6, between 10am and 2pm.

Turf will be £5 per piece, and seats, blue plastic with screw-down fixing, £10, or three for £20.

Other items such as signs, badges and even the turnstiles can be acquired with prices subject to negotiation.
