Late flourish hands Wings derby success

Bromley 1 Welling 3

Three goals in nine minutes ensured Welling gained the Boxing Day honours at rivals Bromley in Blue Square South.

The Wings had to come from behind against a youthful Bromley side and they left it late before staging a late rally to claim the points.

Charlie Sheringham and Moses Ademola both wasted early chances for Welling, who were made to pay when Tony Sinclair was caught in possession and Ashley-Paul Robinson crossed for Warren McBean to head in after 37 minutes.

Wings keeper Clark Masters kept his side in the contest at the start of the second half, tipping over Luke L'Anson's 20-yard effort.

Bromley lost their discipline and lacked fitness as the half went on, with L'Anson and Rob Gillman both fortunate to avoid red cards.

Welling dominated without ever looking dangerous in front of goal but that all changed when Sheringham curled home from 20 yards with 18 minutes left.

The Wings were ahead four minutes later when Tony Sinclair headed in Lee Blackburn's free-kick.

Another set piece wrapped the game up in the 81st minute as Ademola grabbed a close-range effort from a left-wing corner.

The sides meet again at Park View Road on New Year's Day.
