Late goal misery for Margate

A SUPERB late equaliser from experienced Telford striker Lee Mills denied Margate victory in the Nationwide Conference on Saturday.

Margate had weathered early pressure, with goalkeeper Paul Smith in top form, before taking the lead against the run of play. Captain tain Graham Porter was left unmarked to head them in front from Adrian Clarke's corner in the 25th minute.

Porter later had to clear off the line from Chris Murphy, who later headed another good chance wide, but substitute Che Stadhart also missed an opportunity to make the points safe.

And the visitors paid the price in the closing minutes when Mills fired a shot against the post from Lee Williams' cross, then seized on the rebound to drive the ball back into the net.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) evening Margate are playing at Dagenham.
