SPECTATORS can expect a run feast at Linton Park near Maidstone on Sunday when two sides packed with batting meet in the npower national village knockout competition quarter-finals.

Linton’s strength is their batting while their West Sussex opponents Findon can boast an equally powerful line-up.

Findon reached the semi-finals of the competition last season before losing to eventual winners Shipton-Under-Wychwood and will be formidable opponents.

They are the unbeaten leaders of the Sussex Invitation League Division One and have progressed to the last eight, despite being drawn away in every round.

Findon boast three Waller brothers in their line-up. Nigel, the captain, is a bowler as is Steve, while Graham, the third member of the family is prolific scoring batsman.

Linton captain Dave Castle is aware that Findon are a bigger club than the Kent team - they have three Saturday sides - but thinks that if they can reproduce the form they showed against Rowledge in the last round they will have a good chance.

Hard hitting batsman Stuart Morrison, who had to have a runner against Rowledge after suffering a leg injury, is hoping to be fit for Linton. They will make a late choice with seamer Dennis Salisbury and batsman Russell Baldwin being added to the 11 that beat Rowledge.

The game starts at 2pm. The winners will be away in the semi-final to either Sully Centurions, from Glamorgan and Gwent, or Werrington, from Cornwall. The final is at Lord’s on Sunday, August 22.
