KENT racer Ryan Lawford will be looking to make his mark on his home circuit when Lydden hosts its biggest event of the year this weekend.
The Easter Rallycross has been expanded to run over two days this year with racing starting on Sunday afternoon and Kumho Tyres MSA British Rallycross Championship racing taking place between 9am and 4pm on Easter Monday.
After an impressive 2007 season Lawford, from Canterbury, will compete in the stock hatch class in his Peugeot 205 GTi while Ashford favourite Terry Moore will take part in the supermodified category.
Reigning champion Ollie O’Donovan leads a strong field of 16 - which includes two European competitors - as he begins the defence of his title in his Peugeot 306.
O’Donovan’s closest challengers in the Championship are likely to be former champions Pat Doran and Dermot Carnegie, and Steve Hill.
Belgian ace Koen Pauwels will compete to test his Ford Focus ST in preparation for the European Rallycross Championship season.
Pauwels will be joined by Dutchman Ron Snoeck who will bring his VW Golf Supercar for its first event in Britain.
There is a full supporting programme alongside the British championship with the Bill Gwynne Rally School Junior Rallycross Championship and the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship also on the schedule.
