KENT’S only surviving marathon, the Thanet Coastal Marathon, takes place on Sunday, September 7.

The event, which incorporates the Kent Championships, starts from Palm Bay, Cliftonville, at 9.30am.

Organised by Thanet Roadrunners the course is among the most picturesque in the county and there are £50 cash prizes for the first male and female finishers.

Supporting the main event will be an open 10k road race starting at 10am and a 2km family fun run, which follows at 11.30am.
