MARGATE have been given a fascinating start to the next football season, with their four opening fixtures against sides new to the Nationwide Conference. They include three former Football League clubs.
They kick-off on Saturday, August 9, away to relegated Shrewsbury, who a few months ago enjoyed a giant killing FA Cup run even better than Margate’s, and knocked out Everton.
The following Tuesday, August 12, they are at home to Aldershot, who lost their Football League place many years ago and have been promoted from the Ryman League, then at home to relegated Exeter, on Saturday, August 16, and away to promoted Tamworth the following weekend, with a chance of revenge for their shock FA Trophy defeat last season.
