MARGATE suffered their second successive home defeat when they conceded an 87th minte goal against Chester, who remain unbeaten from home in the Nationwide Conference.
David Cameron was left all alone at the far post to meet fellow substitute Michael Brown's first-time cross after a break in midfield from Paul Carden.
Chester had just about edged the second half, with Margate unable to create any clear-cut chances. Each side had one opportunity in the first half, Lee Shearer going closest for Margate with a shot that was deflected just over after 10 minutes.
Chester's best moment came in the 21st minute when Margate keeper Charlie Mitten failed to hold Carden's 20-yard drive but Ryan Sugden lifted the rebound over from six yards.
Margate are away to Farnborough on Tuesday and will take a late a fitness check on right wingback Greg Oates, who has a hamstring injury.
Steve Watts is due to play the final game of his loan spell from Leyon Orient although Gate boss Chris Kinnear is keen to keep the striker for longer.
